    2022 Volkswagen ID. Aero concept teased, June 27 reveal

    The Volkswagen ID. Aero concept will measure around 5 metres long, which is longer than a Passat sedan, and be based on the MEB platform.Volkswagen has confirmed it will reveal a pre- production version of its mid-sized electric sedan, called the ID. Aero concept, on June 27, 2022.

    Volkswagen has also confirmed production of the European and North American ID. Aero will be take place at its plant in Emden, Germany.
    As previously reported, the Volkswagen ID. Aero is set to be an all- electric alternative to the .
    Like all Volkswagen electric vehicles (EVs) to date, this electric sedan is based on the Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform.
    The ID. Aero is said to measure around 5000mm long, which is around 225mm longer than the Passat sedan and 37mm longer than the sedan.

    Volkswagen hasn’t detailed the electric powertrains, power and torque outputs, battery size, and electric range for the ID. Aero yet.
    It will likely be offered in single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive variants.
    A sporty GTX model is also a possibility given Volkswagen recently confirmed all of its all- electric ID. models, including the , will be .
    Accompanying this announcement is a singular teaser sketch that shows off the ID. Aero concept from the rear three-quarter angle.

    This sketch gives up our clearest look yet at the sleek sedan silhouette. It’s very similar to the upcoming electric sedan.
    The ID. Aero concept is said to have an “aerodynamic front and roof”, which both helps to reduce energy consumption and increase range.
    Volkswagen says the ID. Aero concept stylistically follows the “unmistakable design language” of its other EVs, including the and ID. Buzz.

    The Volkswagen ID. Aero will be sold alongside the Passat, which will reportedly become wagon-only in its next generation, and will sit below Volkswagen’s upcoming all- electric flagship currently known as .
    This flagship model will be the first vehicle built of , which will succeed today’s MEB and PPE all- electric architectures plus the MQB, MSB and MLB architectures.
